Week 13 Part A: Online Advertising - Analysis of the Marketplace

 

The idea of leaning into the algorithm of Instagram instead of trying to beat it was an interesting point. We all trying to somehow beat the algorithm instead of using it to our advantage. The algorithm of Facebook is a bit more complicated progress. Using it to your advantage would be a bit more difficult in my opinion than trying to beat it, but the results would be better. Zuckerberg pushed out the idea to help users understand the algorithm better and their own data. This sparked a huge outcry of people being more concerned about their privacy and what was really happening to their data. Comparing social media to traditional advertising, there’s no debate that social media takes the win. The fact that you’re able to relay an ad to thousands of people across the worldwide in a fast period of time is incredible and outshines all forms of traditional advertisement.
